California Proposition 65 Notice

Q: Why does Light It! have a warning label on its products?
A: To ensure that all Light It! products are in compliance with California Prop 65 requirements.

Q: Are Light It! products safe?
A: Yes, we believe that our products are completely safe and if any chemicals (approx. 900) listed in Prop 65 are present in Light It! products, they would be under the allowable levels for exposure listed in Prop 65.

Q: Why does Light It! feel they need to display the Prop 65 Warning?
A: Light It! products use several different plastics, including ABS (product bodies) and Polycarbonate (lenses). Each uses a precursor chemical (Styrene and BPA), however neither ABS or PC are listed as polymers of concern in Prop 65. In an abundance of caution, we have decided to list the California Prop 65 warning to alleviate any legal action arising from product sold in California.

Q: What is a precursor chemical?
A: A precursor is a compound that participates in a chemical reaction that produces another compound.

Q: What is Prop 65?
A: California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, better known as Prop 65, currently lists chemicals which the State believes could cause cancer or reproductive harm to humans in certain circumstances of exposure. If a product contains any of these chemicals, informing the customer is required. For this reason, we label all our products with the warning.

Q: Are these warnings required by the FDA or other Federal agencies?
A: No
